This model was taken from the sculpture Maternidad by Jorge Oteiza. Maternidad is a sculpture made in 1953 and is located in the Artium Museum in Vitoria-Gasteiz. It is made of bronze and represents a highly simplified mother figure. The work belongs to a very important period in Oteiza’s career, when the artist was evolving from a more figurative style of sculpture towards increasingly undefined and abstract forms. In the sculpture, we can see that Oteiza does not try to represent a mother in a realistic way. This model was photogrammetrically scanned by Artmonite during a visit to Vitoria in 2026.
