18th century possible discoid sandstone gravemarker in Old St. Brendan’s Graveyard (OF035-012002-), in the historic town of Birr (OF035-012----), marking the grave of an unknown person. The surface of the headstone has been incised with letters A G A 17 Y 1771, representing the initials of the deceased, their age and year of death. Unknown person with the initials A G aged 17 years who died in 1771, year of birth c. 1754. Discoid" means flat and circular or shaped like a disk. The gravestone looks like a round disk mounted on a long or short stem.
