This 3D model shows a silt bed with extensive human prehistoric footprints on Formby beach, just north of Victoria Road in the intertidal zone. This bed of prints was visible one hour after high tide on 11th August 2026 and shows extensive erosion to the west. The bed was identified and surveyed by a group of Emerging Archaeologists from the Museum of Liverpool. The prints are over 4,000 years old and were created in soft, silty mud and then baked hard in the sun during the Neolithic. The prints can be seen showing a number of individuals walking east to west and back again, there are prints of differing sizes suggesting that they were exploiting the wetland environment in family groups. This model was produced in Polycam by Kit Ackland. A larger high resolution mesh from Agisoft is available on request.
