Originally intended for 2024, this delayed refit saw the USS Hawaii receive a slew of upgrades Including:
Modernized sensors (AN/SPY-6V1, AN/SPQ-9B)
6x quad Naval Strike Missile launchers
2x additional RIM-116
1x additional 20mm Phalanx
1x AN/SEQ-3 30 Kw laser
and an additional 144 Mk-41 VLS cells for a total missile complement of 272 cells.
The ship lost her 2 8in Mark 7 deck guns as well as their associated AN/PEQ-19 laser designators and her outdated RGM-84 Harpoon launchers. Neither USS Florida or USS Colorado would receive this refit and due to budget constraints would be decommissioned in 2031 and 2034 respectively.
