The Last Salvage Squad is a single-player 2.5D first-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic future where humanity has already fallen to an alien invasion. The last line of defense is a group of autonomous humanoid machines called CogrinaUnits, which continue fighting using the few powerful weapons left behind by humanity.

The game combines straightforward missions with tactical choices, allowing players to engage enemies from a distance or up close depending on the situation. Resource management is important, as equipment is limited and must often be recovered from defeated units. Between battles, players experience story scenes that explore the fate of Earth and the determination of the machines carrying out humanity’s final mission.
