Tetramethoxypropane has no rings at all: its 27 atoms form an open chain held together by 26 bonds (all of them single). Counting task: 7 C + 16 H + 4 O gives 27 engraved spheres; can the class rebuild the formula C7H16O4 from the model alone? This molecule gives students these functional groups to identify: four ether linkages (C-O-C).
