These four willows were grown in Florasynth's growth simulation rather than modelled by hand.
Each willow is fully rigged. Florasynth builds a skeleton for every tree it grows, with around 250 bones following the trunk and branches, and the bark and foliage are skinned to them so the whole tree bends as one piece. The wind animation is generated by Florasynth from each tree's own structure: thick limbs sway slowly, the thinner branches and hanging tips move more, and gusts travel out from the trunk instead of hitting the whole tree at once.
