The Riftback Stalker - Halloween monster

The Riftback Stalker, classified by folklorists as *Fissodorsum obscura*, is a creature said to inhabit the shattered volcanic badlands of the Ashen Reach. For centuries, travellers have reported encounters with a six-limbed beast formed from black stone, crystal, and living flesh. Its most unusual feature is a glowing fissure running along its spine, illuminating the surrounding mist with a faint crimson light. Witnesses describe a floating dark orb where a head should be, suspended within a ring of rotating bone plates. Jagged crystal growths emerge from its body, and its massive claws leave trails of hardened mineral deposits in the soil. Local legends claim the Riftback Stalker appears before landslides, cave collapses, and other disasters. While no physical evidence has ever been found, many settlements near the Ashen Reach still treat sightings as warnings and evacuate when its eerie red glow is seen in the distance.
