Image Licensing
1. Brand assets
The Spool List logo, wordmark, UI graphics, marketing illustrations, and editorial images created by or for The Spool List Ltd are © The Spool List Ltd, all rights reserved. These assets may not be reproduced, modified, or used in commercial or editorial contexts without prior written permission.
Requests for commercial reuse or republication of brand assets: [email protected].
2. Maker portfolio photos and work samples
Photos, portfolio images, and work samples uploaded by makers are owned by the individual maker. The Spool List displays them under the licence makers grant by accepting our Terms of Service. The relevant clause (Section 4 — Content & intellectual property) reads:
"You retain all rights to files and designs you upload. Posting a job grants matched makers a limited, non-exclusive license to view, quote and fabricate the specified design. Inventor-mode posts are private by default; disclosure is controlled by you. Do not upload content you lack rights to. We may remove content that violates third-party IP rights."
The Terms do not grant The Spool List a broad sublicensable licence to maker portfolio images beyond displaying them on the platform. [[LAWYER]] — if this page is being cited in acquireLicensePage JSON-LD for Google image indexing, Merlin should confirm with counsel whether the current ToS clause (written around job-file uploads) is sufficient to cover portfolio/profile display images, or whether a broader display licence clause should be added to the ToS.
To request permission to reuse a maker's image, contact the maker directly via their profile on thespoollist.com. The Spool List cannot grant licences on behalf of makers.
3. User-submitted content
Buyers may upload photos describing their project (for example, a broken part they need replicated or a reference image for a custom job). Ember AI-generated concept images are produced using a buyer's uploaded reference and the Ember pipeline. These are uploaded by users for project purposes and may carry their own rights.
The Spool List does not assert copyright ownership over user-submitted project photos or AI-generated concept images produced by Ember. [[LAWYER]] — the legal status of AI-generated images under UK law (governing law per ToS Section 8) is unsettled; Merlin should take advice on whether a platform copyright claim or disclaimer is appropriate here, and whether any wording is needed regarding the buyer's rights to the Ember output.
Design files uploaded to orders are deleted 90 days after order completion unless saved to a portfolio, as set out in the Privacy Policy.
4. Notice and takedown
If you believe content on The Spool List infringes your copyright, please contact us with the following information: a description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed; the URL or location of the allegedly infringing content; your contact details; and a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
Send takedown notices to: [email protected]. [[LAWYER]] — Merlin should confirm with counsel whether a full DMCA-compliant or UK-equivalent notice-and-takedown procedure should be set out here, including the required sworn declarations and counter-notice process.
