GTA V (Mod) - Carl “CJ” Johnson

Carl “CJ” Johnson is the protagonist of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, voiced by Young Maylay. Born and raised on Grove Street in Ganton, Los Santos, CJ is the second-in-command of the Grove Street Families, led by his older brother Sean “Sweet” Johnson. After his younger brother Brian’s death in 1987, he left for Liberty City and spent five years working as a car thief. In 1992 he returns home for his mother Beverly’s funeral and is immediately blackmailed by the corrupt C.R.A.S.H. unit. CJ rebuilds the Families’ power, uncovers the truth behind his mother’s murder, survives betrayal by childhood friends Big Smoke and Ryder, and is forced into exile. Across San Fierro and Las Venturas he builds a criminal empire — garage, car dealership, casino shares, and more — while forming alliances with the Triads, government agent Mike Toreno, and others. He eventually returns to Los Santos, restores Grove Street, and takes final revenge. CJ remains one of the most iconic and human protagonists in the GTA series.
