At its heart, Phenyl glycidyl ether is built around two rings (one 3-membered and one 6-membered), one of them aromatic. The model shows 22 bonds: 16 single and 6 aromatic. Counting task: 9 C + 10 H + 2 O gives 21 engraved spheres; can the class rebuild the formula C9H10O2 from the model alone? Ask the class to locate the epoxide ring (three-membered C-O-C ring) and the ether linkage (C-O-C) and name each one.
