Naphthalene (C10H8, CAS 91-20-3) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Symbols are engraved into every atom, so students read atoms by symbol, not by colour.
Start with the ring system: Naphthalene has two 6-membered rings, fused along a shared edge, both aromatic; in total the model carries 19 bonds (8 single and 11 aromatic). A five-minute warm-up: read the symbol on every sphere and write down the totals (10 C + 8 H = 18 atoms). Use it when you teach aromaticity and delocalised electrons, as well as fused ring systems.
