4-Chlorobenzotrichloride (C7H4Cl4, CAS 5216-25-1) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Instead of colour coding, every sphere carries its engraved element symbol.
Let the group sketch what they see in 4-Chlorobenzotrichloride, namely one aromatic 6-membered ring; afterwards they compare the sketch with the 15 bonds on the model (9 single and 6 aromatic). Quick starter: ask students to count the engraved symbols (7 C + 4 H + 4 Cl) and check that they add up to 15 atoms and the formula C7H4Cl4. Team task: with the model in hand, each group marks the four C-Cl bonds, then writes down what they found.
