The Audi R8 LMS Evo is a high-performance GT3-class racing car developed by Audi Sport Customer Racing. Designed as a production-based race car, it is a heavily modified version of the road-legal Audi R8 sports car. The vehicle was initially introduced for the 2019 global sports car racing season as an upgrade package for the second-generation R8 LMS, followed by a subsequent "Evo II" iteration introduced ahead of the 2022 season.
Audi Sport introduced the first R8 LMS GT3 in 2009. Following the release of the second-generation production R8, a completely redesigned R8 LMS was launched in 2015.
To maintain competitiveness in global GT3 championships and address feedback from customer teams, Audi unveiled the R8 LMS Evo at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The update package focused heavily on improving aerodynamics, cooling efficiency, component durability, and drivability for amateur "gentleman" racers.
