Happy 250th birthday USA! the 1000 series train manufactured by Rohr were the first train part the washington metropolitan area transit authority (WMATA) metrorail. these 1000 series trains were first put into service in 1976, and fully retired on May 20th, 2020, after being in service for 44 years.
