18th-century headstone (H 1.2m x Wth 0.55m x T 0.1m) in Old St. Brendan’s Graveyard (OF035-012002-), in the historic town of Birr (OF035-012----), marking the grave of Honor Kingston (1732-87). The base of the headstone has been signed by the stone sculptor Patrick Carroll. Facit is a Latin verb form that means "he makes," "she makes," "it makes," "he does," "she does," or "it does. Historically used on artwork (e.g., "Sculptor X facit" meaning "Sculptor X made this"). Above the inscription there is an I H S Christogram with Latin Cross with expanding terminals rising from the crossbar of the H with scroll banners reading Gloria in Excelsis Deo. Above this there are three winged faces or soul-effigies. Inscription is framed within a bevelled panel.
